# JetBrains AI Assistant + Luma Cloud

Use Luma Cloud in AI Assistant across supported IntelliJ-based IDEs.

API connection: Chat Completions. Instructions checked: 2026-09-28. Client capabilities and versions may vary; follow the verification steps below.

This is an API setup guide. SuperGPT desktop installation and sign-in are separate; use a customer API key for the client described here.

## Before you start

- Create a Luma Cloud API key in Dashboard → API and copy a model ID from the authenticated model catalog.

- Install AI Assistant in a supported JetBrains IDE. Your organization must allow third-party providers.

## Setup

1. **Open providers**
   Go to Settings → Tools → AI Assistant → Providers & API keys. In Third-party AI providers, choose OpenAI-compatible.

2. **Enter the endpoint and key**
   Use https://api.lumaos.cloud/v1 as the provider API URL. Paste the Luma Cloud key in the API Key field on macOS, Windows, or Linux. Use the IDE's credential field rather than committing a key to .idea files.

3. **Check the connection**
   Click Test Connection. Enable Tool calling only when supported by the selected model. A connection check confirms access, while the first chat request below checks an actual answer.

4. **Assign the model**
   Choose the catalog model in AI Chat and, where needed, Models Assignment. Set Core features and Instant helpers deliberately; keep any existing assignments you still want.

5. **Apply and start a new chat**
   Click Apply to save. Open AI Chat, select the intended model, and send the first request below. If the picker still shows the old provider, reopen AI Chat or restart the IDE after saving your work.

## Connection fields

- Base URL: https://api.lumaos.cloud/v1

- API key: Your Luma Cloud key, entered in the client's secret field

- Model ID: MODEL_ID_FROM_CATALOG

Send this in a new conversation with the Luma Cloud model selected. This is a normal API request and uses the selected key's balance or quota.

## Verify

- Send a short text request, then check Usage → API Wallet for Wallet usage, or subscription Usage for Builder keys. A populated model list alone does not confirm a successful response.

- Try an AI Chat answer, then separately check any in-editor action or MCP tool you intend to use.

## Limits

- Applies to AI Assistant. Integrated Junie, Codex, and other agents have separate model/authentication requirements.

- Inline completion and next-edit suggestions need FIM or edit-prediction models and separate AI Completion configuration. A chat model does not automatically support them.

- When JetBrains AI remains enabled, unsupported features may use its models. Check the selected model before comparing usage.

## Troubleshooting

### The provider option is missing or disabled

Check that AI Assistant is installed, enabled, and up to date. Managed IDEs can restrict third-party keys. Ask your administrator about that setting or use the separate Continue extension guide when permitted.

### Test Connection succeeds but an editor action is unavailable

Review Models Assignment for that feature. A chat connection does not automatically provide every AI Assistant feature, and integrated agents have separate setup.

### Inline completion still uses another model

AI Completion is configured separately from Third-party AI providers. It needs FIM or edit-prediction support; do not assign a general chat model just because its ID is visible.

### 401 or invalid API key

Paste the complete Luma Cloud API key again without quotes, spaces, or a Bearer prefix. Confirm that the same key is still active in Dashboard → API. Your dashboard password and Google sign-in are not API keys.

### Model not found or access denied

Copy the exact model ID available to this key from the authenticated catalog. MODEL_ID_FROM_CATALOG is a placeholder, not a model name. Do not substitute a display label or copy an ID from another provider.
